Maria is wise old Quarter Horse mare whose owner, Bonnie, sadly passed away a year and a half ago. Although in recent years Bonnie and Maria enjoyed a more sedate lifestyle, Bonnie was an avid lifelong horsewoman and a champion barrel racer and pole bender. Bonnie's husband is not a horseman himself, but he continues to take devoted care of Maria. Maria's other best buddy is a deer who lives in a pen next door to her pasture. The two of them spend a lot of time together, no doubt having deep interspecies conversations through the fence.
